5-Star EDGE Sensation DJ Jacobs Pledges to the Future on CBS Sports HQ

    DawgNation

Five-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs is set to announce his college commitment live on CBS Sports HQ this coming Monday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Fans eager to catch this pivotal moment can do so through the video at the top of this page, on the CBS Sports App, or through connected devices like Roku, Amazon Fire, or Apple TV.

Jacobs is currently ranked as the top prospect in the Class of 2027, leading a highly anticipated commitment that has a slew of college programs vying for his talents.

This standout playmaker hails from Roswell, Georgia, and plays for Blessed Trinity Catholic High School. Surprisingly, Jacobs stands among only nine players to earn a five-star ranking at this stage in the recruiting cycle. While he has not published an official list of schools he’s favoring, recent visits hint at the programs seriously in contention for his commitment.

Since November, he has toured campuses at powerhouses like Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas. Notably, he made two unofficial trips to Miami during the season, marking them as serious contenders ahead of his commitment. The Hurricanes are increasingly seen as frontrunners as Jacobs navigates his decision.

Georgia offers natural appeal as its in-state school, plus it holds significant personal connections for Jacobs. He is a legacy at the university, with his father, David, having played defensive line and his mother, Desiree, a former basketball player there. Additionally, his connection runs deeper as former Georgia coach Mark Richt is his godfather.

Landing Jacobs means acquiring a defender who is not just ready to contribute but has substantial potential in the NFL.

“Cast-iron edge defender with the size, speed and strength to cause problems on Saturdays and Sundays,” notes 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins in his assessment of Jacobs. “He shows promise as a future game-changer for a College Football Playoff-bound team capable of setting the edge and pressuring quarterbacks.”
