For one Philadelphia Phillies player, this situation is deeply personal. It’s more than just business affairs—it’s family.
Alec Bohm is at the center of a significant legal battle against his parents, alleging financial misconduct related to his career earnings, as reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The lawsuit details Bohm’s claims that his parents, Daniel and Lisa, established multiple LLCs in 2019 aimed at managing his finances after his impressive entry into the league as the No. 3 overall pick in 2018. This structure was meant to safeguard his income and facilitate growth.
However, things took a troubling turn, with Bohm alleging that funds were redirected for the personal benefit of his parents rather than the intended purpose.
The lawsuit indicates that money from Bohm’s accounts and funds associated with the Alec Bohm Foundation were allegedly misused for personal transactions. He is pursuing at least $3 million in damages due to these allegations.
In response, his parents categorically deny these accusations. Through their attorney, they assert that all actions were taken with Bohm’s best interests in mind and have labeled the claims as “entirely without merit.”
Bohm, a former All-Star set to earn $10.2 million this season, further claims he was informed he could not hold certain real estate assets under his own name without a satisfactory explanation. He now suspects that liabilities may have been overly exaggerated as part of a broader scheme to mismanage his finances.
He is asking the court not only to restore any misappropriated funds but also to grant him full control over the LLCs.
This family dispute has escalated into a courtroom battle, and it’s clear that the stakes are considerable.
