Dillon Brooks: New Legal Woes Unveiled

    Phoenix Suns

Dillon Brooks’ troubles off the court extend beyond his recent DUI incident.

An exclusive report from TMZ Sports reveals that the Phoenix Suns forward was cited for reckless driving back in January. Allegedly, he was racing down a city street at 85 mph in a 45-mph zone.

    That’s bound to turn heads.

According to reports, this incident occurred shortly after midnight on January 12. An officer indicated Brooks was driving in a manner that posed an “extreme risk” for a serious crash, especially with businesses nearby still operating.

In short, this was not an ideal circumstance.

Bodycam footage captured the moment Brooks was pulled over. Upon realizing the reason for the stop, he asked the officer if it was due to speeding, to which the officer confirmed. Soon after, Brooks received a citation for reckless driving.

“Anything above 35 mph is deemed reckless,” the officer informed him.

Despite the known speed, Brooks wasn’t arrested during this incident. He received a ticket and was allowed to leave, but he is currently scheduled to appear in court next month.

    Then another serious issue arose.

Earlier this month, Brooks was taken into custody in Scottsdale on suspicion of DUI, as police alleged he was swerving between lanes. Officers reported that his vehicle had a strong smell of marijuana.

Brooks denied consuming alcohol, with a breathalyzer reportedly indicating a 0.0 BAC.

Nonetheless, this created an additional layer to what has already been a challenging time.

On the court, Brooks has been sidelined since February 21 due to a fractured left hand. He is expected to be re-evaluated later this month or in early April.
