According to TMZ Sports, Brooks was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona, around 1 a.m. for suspected DUI. The encounter began as a standard traffic stop but escalated into something more serious.
Officers conducted a thorough investigation at the scene, leading to the arrest of the Suns forward.
Brooks was taken to Scottsdale City Jail, processed, and released around 3:30 a.m. Throughout the incident, police reported that he remained respectful and cooperative.
A mugshot obtained by TMZ features Brooks, looking directly at the camera, wearing a white tank top with his recognizable beard.
This arrest adds to what has already been a challenging time for the veteran forward. Brooks has been recovering from a fractured hand and missed the Phoenix Suns’ narrow 105-103 defeat against the Chicago Bulls.
Known for his outspoken nature and defensive skills, Brooks previously played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets before joining the Suns in a blockbuster trade involving Kevin Durant over the summer.
In light of the situation, the Suns released a statement.
“We are aware of the situation involving Dillon Brooks and are gathering more information,” the team stated. “We have no further comment at this time.”
According to Hoops Wire, any disciplinary actions from the NBA will likely be announced later. Typically, the league waits for legal matters to unfold before deciding on potential suspensions.
