Terrance Gore, a former MLB player renowned for his exceptional base-stealing skills, has sadly passed away at the young age of 34.
Major League Baseball confirmed this news on February 7. No specific cause of death was provided, but Britney Gore, his wife, shared on social media that he succumbed to complications from a routine surgery.
“The Dodgers express their sorrow over the sudden passing of Terrance Gore, a valued member of our 2020 World Series champions. We send our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones,” the Dodgers stated on February 7.
Gore entered the MLB as a 20th-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 2011 MLB Draft. Despite being a speedy 5-foot-7 and weighing 160 pounds, he didn’t take the field until the 2014 season, and it wasn’t until 2018 that he recorded his first hit. Nonetheless, he made a name for himself as a designated runner.

Over his career, he played in 112 games, achieving just 16 hits but managing to steal an impressive 48 bases in 58 attempts. He also contributed five steals in 11 postseason games, playing a crucial role in helping multiple teams reach the World Series.
Gore’s journey included appearances in the World Series with the Royals in both 2014 and 2015. While the Giants triumphed over the Royals in the 2014 series, the Royals claimed victory against the Mets in 2015, marking their first championship in three decades.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of Terrance Gore, and we extend our love to his family and friends,” the Royals expressed on X on February 7.
Gore later secured his second championship ring with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 2020 season. He even made a plate appearance with the Atlanta Braves in the 2021 season, a year the Braves ultimately won the World Series.
The Georgia native also spent a season with the Chicago Cubs, who shared their condolences on X, stating: “The entire Cubs organization expresses their sympathy to the friends and family of former Cub Terrance Gore.”
