The Yankees fans were enjoying a Sunday beatdown of the Oakland A’s when the biggest WTF moment came, and surprisingly, it didn’t come from the field. It came from the booth.
The Yankees were cruising with a 7-0 lead in the fifth innings when the former MLB pitcher-turned-announcer Jeff Nelson randomly decided to offer his take on Game of Thrones, and it was not just inaccurate but wildly inappropriate as well.
“I’ve never seen Game of Thrones,” Nelson said on air. “It’s a gladiator thing, right? It’s when brothers and sisters are having babies and stuff together, isn’t that the Game of Thrones?”
The clip soon went viral on social media, with fans in total disbelief, left somewhere between cringing and in splits.

Aaron Judge Hits 30 Home-Run Milestone As Yankees Register Big Win
While Jeff Nelson’s unexpected Game of Thrones commentary during the broadcast grabbed plenty of attention, it certainly wasn’t the only thing that made the headline in the Bronx on Sunday. On the field, the Yankees registered a dominant 12-5 win over the Oakland A’s to claim the 3-game series.
Aaron Judge launched two home runs to reach the 30 home-run milestone for the third straight year. Meanwhile, Jazz Chisholm Jr. crushed a solo homer and four RBIs.
On the mound, Marcus Stroman returned from the Injured List and proved his doubters wrong by delivering five solid innings, allowing just one run on three hits.
Yankees will now prepare for the series against Toronto Blue Jays starting on June 30.
