The Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons pulled off a trade on Monday, one that sent guard Isaiah Joe to a new city and to a new conference.
Joe will now play for his third team in seven seasons as he introduces himself to an entirely new group of fans. Here’s what they will need to know.
A native of Arkansas, Joe attended his home state university. He spent two seasons with the Razorbacks while averaging 15.2 points per game and 3.4 rebounds.
Joe headed to the NBA as a second-round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He landed with the Philadelphia 76ers and kicked off a two-year run in the historic city.
The Arkansas native played in 96 games in two seasons. He averaged 3.7 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. He appeared in 11 playoff games while a member of the 76ers.
Joe headed to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2022-23. He spent four seasons with the perennial playoff contender, and he appeared in 296 games. He increased his productivity while averaging 9.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
He also appeared in 44 playoff games for the Thunder across three seasons. He completed 45.6% of his free throws in these games, and he averaged 5.3 points per game. He ended the 2024-25 season as a champion.

Last season served as his best outing as he came off the bench to provide depth. He particularly excelled at three-pointers while making 157. This ranked fifth among players off the bench.
The trade for Joe, which included two future second-round draft picks, is the second significant move made by the Thunder after the team reached the Western Conference Finals but lost to the San Antonio Spurs.
The Thunder also made official on July 6 the trade of Aaron Wiggins. The Thunder sent the fan favorite to the Hawks in exchange for two future second-round draft picks. This move helped the Thunder save approximately $60 million in tax.
