The NBA has weighed in on the physical altercation between a pair of former Miami Heat players, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the league will not take any further action against the two players. They will avoid discipline for this incident, which reportedly occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“After discussing with the players involved and the NBPA, everyone would prefer to move on from this unfortunate circumstance, and no further action will be taken by the league,” an NBA spokesperson said, per Charania.
The altercation reportedly took place last Friday on a practice court in Las Vegas. Players from around the league were in Nevada for the Summer League games.
Adebayo allegedly approached Herro, his former Miami Heat teammate, regarding comments made about him on social media. He then allegedly struck Herro in the head area in the heated incident.
The two had previously spent seven seasons together competing in pursuit of a common goal — bringing a title to the Miami Heat. They reached the NBA Finals two times (2019-20, 2022-23) but lost both times. The Heat lost to the Lakers in 2019-20 and then lost to the Nuggets in 2022-23.
An offseason trade sent Herro to the Bucks and ended his seven-year run with Adebayo. Herro then reportedly criticized Adebayo’s play on social media, which led to the confrontation on the Las Vegas practice court.
Both the Heat and the Bucks faced questions about this altercation after Charania broke the news. New Milwaukee coach Taylor Jenkins appeared on SiriusXM and said that he had no comment about the situation. He added that he did not have all of the details.
The Heat released a brief statement, which said, “We are aware and not commenting.”
Now that the NBA has ruled on the incident, the two players and their respective organizations can simply move forward with the offseason. They can focus on the 2026-27 season and the opportunity to pursue a championship.
