Kevin O’Leary Uncovers Cool Story About Florida Kid Who Made $11-Million After Securing Rare Shohei Ohtani Card In His Kitchen

    YouTube

Baseball cards are highly collectible. While not all have mind-boggling value, some of them do. One of the hottest ones to collect right now is from Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.

When it comes to cards with value, many are from earlier eras of MLB. Truth be told, a couple of Mickey Mantle Cards were valued at more than a million. One of those went for nearly $2 million more in an auction not too long ago.

How Kevin O’Leary Purchased The Shohei Ohtani Dual Logoman

Ohtani’s baseball cards are highly collectible, not just for MLB fans but for other collectors as well. And one of those is the rare Shohei Ohtani Back-to-Back Dual Logoman trading card.

It is widely considered a ‘holy grail’ for baseball card enthusiasts. Before being sold, it had an estimated value between $5 million and $10 million. So it was not surprising that it drew immense attraction in the trading card market.

How was it found? Kevin O’Leary explained the wild circumstance of how he was able to buy it from a kid.

“What happened was they put it in one of a million packages and sent it out in a card that looked like this. And a kid in Florida, in his kitchen, opened it up and realized what he had. He actually posted it and said I have the card. He now has $11 million dollars,” Kevin O’Leary said.

    Shohei Ohtani’s Popularity Surges

$11 million for a single trading card might be insane, but that’s a testament to how popular Shohei Ohtani is in the world of baseball.

A 6-time All-Star, 4-time MVP winner, and already a 2-time champion, the 32-year-old is a generational player. Not only is he popular in North and South America, but Ohtani also has a massive following in Asia, particularly in his home country, Japan.
